Today I rebuilt an Atomic T1X first stage that was environmentally sealed. Gawd, what a mess!! That said, when I went to load the new ChristoLube in the thing I could not get any to flow through the adapter tool designed to allow me to do this. I got to poking around the tool and noticed that inside the large end is a flat plate that can move up and down. I concluded that this plate was pushing down on the piston and shutting off the flow of lube. I had to open up the seat end of the reg and push up on the end of the piston in order to get this plate to move up in the tool and allow lube to flow. I was able to reseal the reg this way.

My quetion is: Have any other Atomic techs had this problem with the ChristoLube adapter tool? Is my tool broken? I have to say that I've used it successfully in the past without resorting to pushing the piston up against the plate.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

I am wondering why you posted this on Scubaboard instead of calling Atomic. Call Atomic and they can walk you through the procedure.

you want to ensure you have the IP set before packing the Christo lube once this is done you can pack the lube, the piston should be raised enough out of the body to allow the lube the flow under it.

you might have a bad tool, but it's pretty self explanatory though.

I have the tool, the picture, the procedure from Atomic, and all that. What I was wondering since I only have one tool is if the flat plate that I mentioned in the op is supposed to move. I don't think it is--when it's down it blocks the flow of grease. When I raise it by pushing up on the piston from the HP seat end grease flows nicely. We've had this tool for a while and it's worked in the past. I am beginning to think it's the tool.

I just may call Atomic to see if they can cast any light on it.

Thanks for your help.
