I was a child asthmatic and have occasional flair ups. Nothing too bad in a long time.

By the way, you do know you already have enough posts for the classifieds, don’t you 😄?

Anyone here dive with asthma?

What information are you looking for with your question? The best place for such question is usually the medical forum. BEST yet is to contact DAN and send them your medical reports and consult with a Hyperbaric (diving) medicine qualified physician to diagnose your case and make recommendations.

Just remember, if you have an asthma attack underwater while diving, there isn't much that can be done and you certainly can't take an inhaler or medicine for it underwater. So, check with a DAN approved Pulmonary specialist first and get their unqualified approval before you do anything.

I had asthma pretty bad when I was younger. Haven’t really had an issue in a long time. My two daughters also dive and they have asthma as well. Well controlled. Before getting them certified, I took them to their allergy and asthma specialist for signoff. He was the same Dr. I saw many years ago, he actually signed off on my OW medical form as well.

In our case, the asthma was primarily allergy triggered, not exertion. Exertion triggered asthma was more concerning for him, and he wouldn’t have signed off if that was the case.

If concerned, talk to a Dr. Especially one experienced in dive medicine or an asthma specialist.
