I finally heard from Avery through Facebook:

AVERY: Please send me the paypal transaction number so I can issue you a refund since you are saying you haven't received the compass even though it was mailed. I'll just take a loss on the compass.

ME: HI Avery, I never did receive the compass. I also sent you a payment request through PayPal, but the origiinal transaction number is (Unique Transaction ID # xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
Thanks for getting back to me. Please just follow through with the refund.

AVERY: No problem at all very sorry for the confusion. Internet install is on Tuesday when my personal computer will be online and I'll process refund then. If that is not acceptable I can make a visit to a western union.

ME: No trouble, just a refund please.

So hopefully this will all be resolved.

OK Update: It's now Friday & guess what? No response or transfer to my PayPal! Seems Avery does not have access to the web except for random posts here, emails when he feels like sending them and posting on Facebook. Oh and no compass received either.

So I stick by my assertion that this guy is a scammer. Makes me second think dealing with folks on the board here.

Selchie you got two responses if your going to give constant updates on the situation then at least give factual updates. You where sent an email which you responded to stating very clearly the refund was processed and was being delayed in delivery by paypal as the result of the funds needing to be transferred from my bank account to paypal which takes up to 72 hours for paypal to process.

You where offered a money wire via western union instead of a paypal refund which you declined. If it was such a time sensitive issue that you got your refund you should have said you wanted it via western union which would have taken less then an hour.

End of story! Stop making out like you are being ignored because ever since I got back to having regular internet access you have nearly instant response. Just like you are getting a near instant response to this post.

If you are in such belief that you are not getting your money back simply go to paypal and file a did not recieve complaint on the purchase and the funds you sent me will be instantly put on hold via paypal and they will investigate your claim. Thats the great thing about using PayPal is it offers buyer protection built in.

You have now been presented with multiple resolutions and a refund request has been processed, so following this response yes now your communications will be ignored because your acting like my 3 year old does when I won't take her to McDonalds!
