Aruba Recommendations Needed

Going to Aruba soon for a meeting. I may only get to dive in the evenings, so.....

Who do you recommend for night dives via boat or shore?

Who rents tanks for evening shore dives?

Where do you recommend someone go for an evening shore dive? I have looked at the data posted on ShoreDiving.com, but would like your personal recommendations.

What is you favorite hotel?

What are your favorite restaurants?

Not much shore diving in Aruba.

I dove there with Pelican and it was pretty good and I would use them again. (rumor is they were bought by Unique Watersports which I've heard good things about also). People also seem to love "Dive Aruba" with Clive and I've heard nothing but positive reports.

Diving in the evening only? you'd prob need to hook up with Clive as he's a one man charter boat operation. Most of the rest of them work a "day schedule".

Any of the hotels up and down Palm Beach or Eagle Beach are ok. There is Marriott, Westin (used to be the Wyndham), Hyatt, Radison, Holiday Inn, etc. Lots of others that are condo based hotel rentals.

Do a search on Aruba and you'll find tons of posts here. Most of them pretty much say the same thing as it's not a big island and most posts are repetitive in that nature.

You might want to check into Jads at Baby Beach. This thread has lots of info on different operators, but Jads seems to be the one with the most shore diving info.

I'm heading down next month and it looks like we're going with Native Divers, but it sounds like they only do PM dives if they have enough demand for them.

Email JADS and JP willl let you know right away if he is what you are looking for. He did some tailored dives for my wife and I. Awesome reefs.

I'll send you an e-mail. By the way current conditions have been wind to about 22 mph, blowing out of the south, and fairly rough by Aruba standards. Winds are supposed to calm down by mid-to-late week.

Who rents tanks for evening shore dives? -->Jads rents equipment but you have to leave your ID behind. I have rented over night gear from them, so it's possible but you have to tell them upfront.

Where do you recommend someone go for an evening shore dive? I have looked at the data posted on ShoreDiving.com, but would like your personal recommendations. --> Rocky Beach(aka Mangel Halto) is a great spot for night dives, I heard Antilla is good for night dives, but it's a long surface swim so you probably won't do it.

What is you favorite hotel? --> Most of the hotels are very good, even the cheapest one will be better than a regular motel in the States.

What are your favorite restaurants? --> for chinese food = KowLoon, steaks = El Guacho pricey but the best steak you'll have, Amazonia also has a lot of good meat it's an all you can eat. for more of a local taste definitely go to Promenade
