I'm a Fish!
I live and work on Koh Tao which is a small island located in The Gulf of Thailand. This small island is a huge diving centre - home to over 40 dive centres and arguably some of the largest in the world too. As a single location the island certifies a significant % of divers for the Asia Pacific region. This puts huge pressure on our reefs. The various conservation organisations on the island with many dive centres participating do a lot to raise awareness of environmental issues. Many smaller and larger projects including regular monthly clean-ups are organised towards this end too.

Last year we had a BioRock structure sited and this years project was an artificial reef called Buoyancy World. You can find photographs and an article I wrote about this project below.

Buoyancy World Artificial Reef Learn To Dive On Koh Tao

I would be interested to hear from divers in other locations where similar projects have taken place as I am about to write another article about artificial reefs in general.

How successful have then been ? What learnings can we use ?
