Hi,
First, a quick background - I am 40, 175lbs, 6'3", reasonably good shape. Been diving >20 years, probably close to 1,000 dives.
Recently (about 6 months ago) I had a bout of arrhythmia that lasted a day or so, then recurred for a few hours for a few days. I saw a cardiologist and took both a stress & echo, as well as wearing a heart monitor for a day. Everything came back fine - except for the occasional palpitation and diagnoses of a very mild MVP. He prescribed Inderol (10mg) to be taken as needed when the palpitations occur.
Skip forward 6 months and I am getting ready to head to Roatan for some serious diving (3 or 4 per day, hopefully) for 10 days, when darn it if my palpitations didn't return a few days ago. I was travelling and didn't have my inderol handy, so none was taken. It has pretty much subsided now, but I am curious of the following:
1) Should I avoid inderol even if palpitations occur when I'm in Roatan?
2) When I asked 6 months ago, after all the tests, the doc said diving should be fine - I didn't ask if I should avoid diving after noticing palpitations for any length of time.
I have a call into him, but he doesn't get back to me quickly and I'm really wondering if these issues may may force me to cancel in the next 7 days.
Thanks,
Glenn
