WHAT’S GOING ON?
Dade County has depleted all of their offshore sand for dredge & fill projects and is seeking to take sand from Federal waters at the St. Lucie Shoals and haul to Miami Beach, 65th to 85th Streets. This has drawn intense criticism in Martin & St. Lucie counties. We need to be concerned here since the Corps last project in Broward had an 11 mile turbidity plume for weeks during and after the 'fill' portion of the project. If that happens here were talking turbidity and sedimentation settling far south, into Biscayne NP.

YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION IS NEEDED
The Army Corps of Engineers is trying to promote this project under the premise that nobody in Miami Beach is against it. YOUR presence is urgently needed at the following meeting to de-bunk this false claim:

MEETING INFO.
Date: Tuesday – May 16th ; 6-8pm (starts & ends promptly)

What: Army Corp’s public ‘Scoping Meeting’ for proposed ‘dredge &fill’

What’s That?:The Army Corps is required by law to present the project to the public AND (more importantly) gather the public sentiment towards the project.

Where: Miami Beach Rod & Reel Club (Awesome Place)

Where’s That?: For those that don't know: 208 Hibiscus Island. Hibiscus Island is halfway across I-395 between Miami and Miami Beach, you’ll see a sign for ‘Palm & Hibiscus Island. Turn off I-395, go over 1st bridge. After going past the gatehouse: go over the 2nd bridge. Rod & Reel Club is on the right at the end of the 2nd bridge, parking is on the left.
