Hello all,

Not sure if this has been posted here before. If you're somehow linked to the US military, be sure to check out the Armed Forces Vacation Club during your lodging search at: http://www.afvclub.com/ . They offer unused timeshare and condo resort units all over the world at greatly reduced prices.

We've used the AFVC twice before and have been very satisfied with our accomodations. Last time we stayed in Cable Beach, Nassau in a 3 BR/3BA (sleeps 8) townhouse (on the beach) for $249/wk. The price per week is now $299, but that's still quite a bargain. If they don't have what you want, check back. They update the site frequently.

Eligibility requirements from their site: (more people are eligible than you'd think...)

You are eligible to participate in the Armed Forces Vacation Club if you are 21 or older and a:

Member of the Uniformed Services (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, NOAA, USPHS; active duty, and both active and inactive Reserve, Auxiliarist, and National Guard) or an adult dependent

Retired Member of the Uniformed Services (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, NOAA, USPHS, Reserve, Auxiliarist and National Guard)

Spouse or child (21 or older) of an active or retired member of the Uniformed Services (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, NOAA, USPHS, Reserve, Auxiliarist and National Guard) AND have a current DD Form 1173, United States Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card.

Civilian employee of the DoD or a Uniformed Service (appropriated, non-appropriated, or retired).

Foreign exchange service member on permanent duty with the DoD

American Red Cross personnel serving overseas with the U.S. military

DoD Dependent School teacher

Disabled American Veteran rated @ 100% with a valid ID Card

Contractor working on a military installation and in possession of an ID card issued by the installation.

Way cool, I'm going to have to look into that!

Sounds like something we need to check out!! Thanks.

Ran into a rep. from the organization at a recent National Guard Assn conference. They're supposed to be posting a special on their website very soon. $299/week for the first vacation and then $199/ week for the next one. (or something like that...)

Stay tuned...
Trish

P.S. Happy to report that the Armed Forces Vacation Club donated two vacations to the PA National Guard Assn raffle. Didn't win, but nice folks!
