I'm planning to do my Advanced Nitrox/Deco Procedures course this summer through TDI, and was wondering if any of the agencies include trimix theory and use at this level? Now before I get slaughtered, I'm not looking to go do a 190 foot dive as soon as I get my cert, but I like the idea of learning it early, and being able to get it if I was to find out I get severly narced past 130 feet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Jim

Please speak to your instructor about this. Mix is NOT a friendly gas to use.

Well I fully intend to discuss this with him further, but he's out of town right now, and I was thinking if I had some specific courses/agencies to ask about, he'd be in a better position to answer my questions.

The only agency that I am aware of that uses trimix at shallow levels is GUE. You can look up their Rec Triox course which I think teaches you to use 30/30.

Well...

The US NAVY has a great all inclusive course, but it takes a 4 year commitment. :eyebrow:

All kidding aside, I would look into rec triox course.

Cheers :D

I thought Helium was our friend?

It is... when you know how to dive.

IANTD has a REC.TRI. course. That was my first venture into the VOO DOO gas!!! WooHoo!!!
It wa quite apparent that the HELIUM did as far as cleaning the mind. My buddy and went the same sea pen bed. Once on air(don't go into sea pens, they'll get you!!) and once on TRI(Crystal clear, Hey look at the pens) Full 180*. The thing is, TRI, is very expensive for a tank. But don't let that discourage you, Tri knocks out the NARC, which used correctly is much safer.IMO

Dive safe/Train hard,
Joe
