Nope. The 30 and 45 Oxys are the same size profile.

The 45 is very nice for single tank diving in the ocean, because it has additional SURFACE lift. You'll never need that (if you're properly weighted) underwater but do not underestimate the value of that lift when you surface into 5-6' seas.

Wait a minute. I'm asking whether it has the same profile has a Pioneer 27 or 36, not another Oxycheq. Just for comparison's sake, I want something to which I can relate it.

As for surface lift, I regularly dive in heavy seas without the need for a large capacity wing. Since I don't use it as a life vest, I don't need it.

Uncle Pug:
the only issue that I know of (besides the knob mentioned) would be the length of the inflator hose.
I'll measure them side-by-side when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it's no longer an issue. It was only prototypes, and early wings in the initial production run that had extra-long hoses. The inflators on the wings I have in stock look comparable to my old Pioneer 36.

I have my old Pioneer 36 still, I'll lay it out next to an OxyCheq 30 and 45 for size comparison, and snap a photo later today of both the wing size and inflator length. The OxyCheq 30lb and 45lb are both definitely the same size - the 45's bellows are on the inside edge of the wing. Face down, you can't tell the two wings apart.

I don't believe there is any significant difference. The Oxy wings however are symmetrical; the Pioneer 36 is not. I prefer the trim on the Oxys.

Thanks. Its just for curiosity's sake, but I do appreciate it.

If the 30 is available, I still wonder why you'd bother with a 45. One of the things I like best about Carribean diving is using an 18 lb wing. It feels like there is nothing there at all and I can dive without ditchable weight.

There is no difference in the size or price, and no difference in drag either.

Thus, there is no downside to the extra lift being available, but its there if you should need it. If you don't, it doesn't get in the way.

This is NOT true of the Pioneers.

ah, list price in the US is no longer the same :) I'm selling them all for the same price at the moment though in Oz.

The new 18lb wing is TINY - it uses a bellow like the 45lb wing to make it smaller - the whole wing sticks out maybe 2" all round your backplate. They were release in limited numbers just before Christmas.

I'm 175lbs, my wife 125-135lbls. We have to dive drysuit in Pacific NW and just assume we won't be diving doubles.

Is 45# right for both of us?

Is the dump able to overcome a stuck inflator?

Sorry for beginner questions but, well ... I'm a beginner.

The most I could see right now would be steel 95's. Maybe for awhile it will be 80's (and not steel probably in warm water).
