I've been thinking about driving somewhere to dive next weekend, and it turns out that it's the same distance to drive to Marianna as it is to drive to Vortex. I know that there isn't much OW at JB, but it still might be fun to get wet somewhere different...and stare longingly at the cave entrance :D

Are OW divers still allowed at JB? I suppose one still needs to sign in at the sheriff's office...and get the key (or is it a gate code now?)

And before anyone chimes in...I do actually have the discipline to stay out of the cave....really! :D

Why not just take a cavern course instead?

That's so on my list of things to do...I've actually got Cavern/Intro scheduled for April. My standard "get-wet" locale is closed for Christmas holidays, and I've just been pondering the idea of going diving this weekend...was just at Vortex last weekend, and thought a change of scenery would be nice...

I can't answer your question regarding OW divers and some of the cave divers are probably going to slap my hand for enticing you to JB, but I can tell you that there's TONS of OW stuff to do out there... here's some pics to prove it... only downside (if that's a downside) is that it's all < 15' :)

I would call the depth a plus - you can dive all day on an al80!

You could rent a boat from Edd and check out all areas of the Mill Pond - there are several coves that are very beautiful - Josh's pictures are a great example.

ShagMan, those pics are beautiful! Thanks for sharing...

It'd be kinda fun to screw around on a 15 foot dive for a change...however, the more I think about it, the more I think I might wait for my drysuit to come in. I froze my tail off at Vortex the other day!
