Scott:

Regarding Zeagle second stage and BC inflator hoses.

I got the best fit using Metric wrenches, but I see that most scuba tool sets seem to have English sizes, so I'm a bit confused.

Can you clarify whether the fittings are Metric or English.

Thanks.

From Zeagle Regulator Guru, Jim Fox:

Unfortunately, as you have discovered, scuba hoses end fitting are not made from precision nut and bolt material, but are made from extruded brass bar stock that is buffed which reduces its size and then plated which increases its size. Add to this the fact that hose assemblies are made in different countries, and you get even more variation.

Zeagle’s Scuba regulator hoses made in the US have an inlet hex of .590” (14.91 mm or 5/8&#8221:wink: and an outlet nut of .679” (17.24 mm or 11/16&#8221:wink:.

Our Miflex Scuba Hoses (used on the Flathead-7) are made in Italy, I believe. The inlet end is .552” (14.02 mm or 9/16&#8221:wink:. The outlet is .667” (16.94 mm or 11/16&#8221:wink:

The older (Apex) Octo+ hose inlet has a .565” inlet (14.35 mm or 9/16&#8221:wink:

The current Octo-Z has the same inlet hex as the regulator hose.

Our HP Gauge hose has an inlet hex of .554” (14.07 mm or 9/16&#8221:wink:

Most “scuba tools” I’ve seen have a stepped down wrench flat that can accommodate both the metric and the imperial sizes. Perhaps the best tool is a good quality 6” adjustable wrench that will fit all of them.
