I had heard someone say that Faber tanks are real rust buckets. Are the Faber tanks more susceptible to rust than the Pressed Steel? Aren't both tanks galvanized? Also are HP tanks more likely to rust than LP tanks?

Thanks

I have owned 4 Faber tanks for the last 8 years and they have seen pretty heavy use. I have not had any rust related issues with them.

I have 4 years on a pair of fabers. Some scratches but no rust, inside or out.

I have some Fabers with many years of heavy use and no rust and have many buddies with the same report. To answer the other part of your question, no, the Fabers are not galvanized as are the Pressed Steel tanks. The Fabers are painted.

And steel is steel. HP vs LP has no place in the equation.

Faber tanks are actually cold-galvanized (some say flame sprayed galvanized) and then coated with white epoxy paint. The OMS variant is coated with a grey epoxy. PST's are hot-dipped galvanized.

As to not drive this thread to far OT, I own two fabers (112's). While only having them a couple of months and only putting about 6 dives on them, I can't comment on the longevity of them, but they are fine (rust free) in their present stage.
