Just gathering some general info on cave diving. What is the difference between a spring and a sink-hole? And what does it mean if one is "blown out"? Thanks.

A spring has water coming out which often leads to a river.

A sinkhole is just a hole in the ground with water in it. Even if the water is flowing, unless it creates a "spring run" which leads to a river (or ocean, in some cases), its just a sinkhole.

Its "blow out" if there is dark water in it, rendering the site undiveable. An example of this is when a river water level gets so high that dark river water flows back INTO the spring.
