Did a quick search but didn't find what I was looking for. Like the tittle says, what are the differences between these two regs?

I've been reading a lot about this "Venturi Adjustment Switch" that is found on the LX models. What exactly does this switch do? Is there is noticable difference between having this switch and not having it?

Apart from that switch, are there any other differences between the two regs as far as performance and quality go?

Thanks a lot everyone,
Kevin

The only difference is the adjustment knob. and about $100 bucks.

performance is the same. just can just adjust the LX a little.

Most people who have the LX (including me), rarely touch the adjustment knob.

BTW... they both have the Venturi valve lever (AL pn: 129138) The AL website just doesn't mention it on the Legend like it does on the Legend LX

The venturi is the valve just inside the regular adjustment knob.

Ahhh, now I see. So what exactly does the Venturi lever do?

btw...Mike S, thanks for a thorough response!

It's basically an anti free flow "switch/lever" for use on the surface. Like when your reg might be hanging in the water and turned upside down and likely to free flow.

I don't have that problem with my Legend LX, so I never use it. (It might have gave a quick free flow one time maybe in colder water, but that was prob due also to I have my Intermediate Pressure tuned up a little over what comes on the LX Supreme). Basically it turns the shuttle-valve in the valve body to a different position to add a little resistance to air flowing. you can still dive with it closed, just adds a little more resistance (in my opinion).

here is the official propaganda on what it's for from Aqualungs website

Diver-controlled Venturi Adjustment Switch (VAS) reduces sensitivity to free flow on the surface and provides maximum airflow at depth

BTW... if you want to buy the Supreme model (Legend LX Supreme or Legend Supreme), the only difference is cosmetic and an extra $15 bucks plus a rubber lipguard and the way the IP is tuned. (the IP is tuned down lower for colder water). Some people like it better on preference... like it has the "Silver Pimp Ring" instead of the Gold one... :D

You'll be happy with this reg regardless of which one you get....

All it does is place a back-flow between the mouthpiece and the air flow. It prevents free flow due to pressure difference similar to placing your hand over the mouth piece. Flipping the switch rotates a plastic deflector into the flow path and forces the air to bounce off the diaphragm, thus tricking it into believing the internal pressure is greater than the external.

The adjustable version has a second knob that allows the user to apply or decrease the amount of resistance placed against the orifice, making it easier or harder to open with each breath.
