I think I finally have the final piece of my amazing USD patchwork reg on the way. It's an Aqua Lung Octopus--one of the regular size ones so I presume it's a Titan/Calypso; it has the little louvers on the front so it's not the current style, although I imagine the innards are identical. As such I don't anticipate any issues and expect it to be a fine performer, but I thought I'd ask anyway. (It seems there were some issues with the radically different LPO...)

SO

The final setup consists of:
1st: USD SE2
2nd: USD Pro Diver
octo: Aqua Lung Titan/Calypso (?) Octopus
gauges: Genesis console with Resource computer
inflator hose: included with Triple-L Stratos

I expect this rig will last me a good long time.

cheers

Hi Bill,

I have Aqua Lung Calypso Octo. Mine has the adjust nozzle on it. It is a really good octo. In the performance wise, I think it is the same as the middle class regulator. I don’t have many chances to use it (it is a good thing), but occasionally I breathe it during the safety stop.

Mechanically speaking the Pro Diver, Conshelf 21, Conshelf SE2, and Conshelf SEA are identical. There is also an Octopus version of the above second stage.

For general reference, the other second stage groups:

The SEA 4, SE3, SEA, Aquarius, Pioneer, Conshelf 22 and Octopus EAN, and there is also a regular Octopus in this category.

The metal cased Conshelf XIV and Conshelf 30, and (as far as I can tell) all the older metal cased second stages that were also named after their first stages like the Conshelf XII, Conshelf XI, Aquarius, Calypso VI, etc). And of course there is yet again an octo labeled "Octopus" in this group.

AirMic, Micra+, and a left hand Micra + Octo version.

The Artic is its own unique animal with the lever on the opposite side of the second stage case.

Aqualung's tendency to name second stages after the first stages they are packaged with, changing the name of first stages that have little or no difference between them and mixing the words Conshelf, SEA and SE with different numbers attached, in various combinations and using various purge cover designs within and between groups tends to confuse the issue. Their tendency to have an "octopus" in nearly every category also makes it confusing to tell exactly what an "Octopus" may be until you open it up.

Oh this is ironic... you had the audacity to futher the statement "flamboyantly flaunting," when replying to one of my posts. Then you suggest that you may be gaining the reputation of being a curmudgeon around here... I'd say ill-tempered seems to fit you well.

Okay... truce! It was considerate of you to leave that message.
