Suggestion April Fools went too far

This past 4/1 the mods decided to allow certain controls to be turned of to help play a joke on the rest of us. (I am pointing directly at the
"Pssst...lets talk about them while they are not here" thread in Humor forum)
In a pm to me I was accusesed of personally attacking someone.

I fell for the joke and unintentionally caused someone else some pain.
For causing someone else pain I am truelly sorry.

In my pm to the person who clued me in, I asked if anyone else was asked to apologize for undue pain caused by this joke?

Does anyone else think this joke went to far? or had the potential to go too far?
Is anyone else feel any undue pain because of this "joke" thread?

The internet is an incredibly public place and the people who read and contribute to SB are from all walks of life. There are opinions and points of view on here that I deplore in regular times (I can live with that), but I loved the turmoil that was caused by the automatic personalization of random comments throughout the threads on 4/1.
I think a lot of people learned yesterday that you can do pretty much anything with computers.
If it's the first time you learned that, then consider it a good thing!

Those of us who have been around the internet for a while will take everything with a grain of salt and think before responding. More SBers have now learned that.

Kudos to Pete and the crew for a fun day.

I got three PM's and read a post that specifically told me he thought the whole ^you^ thing was getting a "little old" and wanted me to stop it. None of the PM's were bad, once I gave them the 411 they thought it was pretty funny too.

I don't think they will be able to come up with anything better than that next year. (There-now proof me wrong El Oransand Net Doc)

Sorry you didn't like it Walter, although we have never met I always enjoy reading your posts; you are probably too smart too be hanging around this board with the likes of me lurking, but joy that this brought me yesterday, I hope you don't mind "taking one for the team" once a year.
