what are the differences between both of these regs. Will one breath better than the other. I know one has the venturi but has anyone breathed off both at depth and felt a difference?

thanks

They both have the venturi. The 50 also has a cracking pressure adjustment knob. Using this knob the 50 can be made to breathe easier (or harder!) at depth than the 40.

I have a 40 as a backup but if I did it over again I would get the 50.

they both have the venturi. the xtx40 lacks the knob to adjust cracking effort. this will have no impact on how they breathe when a 50 and a 40 are tuned exactly the same. however, i prefer the on-the-fly adjustability of the 50. especially after service more than one diver has had to deal with a poorly adjusted and freeflowing reg. in most cases that's easily fixed with the adjustment knob. with the 40 you have to call the dive.
