Perfect and thank you. I get it. Does using the extended T push the air away from the head. Going back to my problem, when I turn my head at just the right angle to the left, the bubble exhaust flows over my ear, pulling pressure and causing pain. Would using this extended T help prevent that, in anyone's opinion that has used this reg?
I really do not like wearing a hood, especially in warm water.

You push the button in the middle, they seperate into two halves, and you swap them around. Short's good for secondary, wide is good for primary

I don't understand why exhaust bubbles would cause the problem you mention; I have never had or heard of a similar problem. I would suggest you post in the Dive Medicine forum and/or consult a diving doctor (ie a doctor specialising in hyperbaric medicine - not one who dives on weekends). I'm concerned that you might have some sort of ear problem which should be attended to rather than 'covered up' by redirecting bubbles or wearing a hood (which you don't want to do anyway & I don't blame you - although you can lift a hood up to let some water in if you get too warm)

Regarding the wide T, the purpose is to direct bubbles away from your mask so they don't interfere with your vision - not to direct bubbles away from your ears. I doubt whether they would be effective for that purpose, but I've never really paid much attention to where the bubbles go
