I took the 2nd stage off my Air2, and adapted it to the corrugated hose that comes with the wing. I like how flexible the corrugated hose is. It is fairly simple just have to cut an angle on the corrugated hose, re-hookup the inner cable, and ziptie the thing together and you are done. The corrugated hose is actually a little longer so it everything works great.

Hope you know how to use that AIR2 in a OOA situation.........

Not quite sure what this means Zulu, seems pretty simple, pull it to lips and breathe. I practiced it in the quarry and it was a lot easier than trying to find an Octopus, and one less line for entanglement. It IS a tad short, but not unmanageable. I am going to upgrade my primary to a 7 foot hose though to make a share air more manageable.

Overall, I'm very disappointed in the WTX however. No adjustablity of the straps makes it tough to get into because it's too tight, then it's too loose in the water as the tank wants to roll off your back to the side. I didn't find the trim great, though I do realize that it needs some dialing in. Then you have the expose wing nuts and bolts, which snagged like hell on my dry suit when donning or doffing. I've come to realize that the whole BP/W system is way oversold, has serious shortcomings, and has people (admittadly like me) flocking to it like lemmings. Especially if you look at what you get compared to the costs (some webbing, a piece of stainless steel and a bladder).

I'll count this as one of those live and learn lessons (sort of like buying a land rover, lots of hype, but in the end just overpriced junk)

Seems like a lot of folks are experiencing similar regrets, lately.

Two reasons... maybe three...

Trying to add things to a BP/wing... things that just don't belong. Might as well stick with a standard BC if that's what you want. BP/wings shine... when they're simple. They just aren't that great when they're pimped.

Not having someone around to help out... someone who knows a thing or two about these rigs.

Of course, you may be right... they probably ARE oversold and probably do have some shortcomings.

Haha I love it ! Pimp my BP/W!

Using a Air2 or SS1 or what ever requires a bit of practice to be able to do things like airshare and dump air while acsending.
Many people just add one to thier rig and say "wow what a great idea" untill they actuly use it in a OOG situation and run into problems with breathing off it while acsending. They then say" What a piece of crap where is my old octi?" When what they should have done it practiced using it.
Some people love `em some hate `em. I got a SS1 for my singles rig and I love it. But then I practice with it.

You mean they don't shine with the integrated weight pouches, pockets, padding, comfort harness, pull dump, air2, retractor, console holder, 18 d-rings, and cell phone holder are added?

MIght as well stick with that Dive-O-Matic 3000...

I'll admit that I strong preference for pure Hog rig. But, to each his own, I reckon.

I went thru a phase where I tricked things out. I guess my KISS phase is just that... another phase. What will life bring next?

I have boxes of that stuff! For some wierd reason I just can't seem to make myself sell it off. ( I think I'm afraid of all the boxing up and all of the trips to the post office. Sounds like a lot of work!)

Well, I bought this rig as I felt it would be better for the type of diving I like to do, which is artifact hunting. I didn't trust all the plastic of my jacket type BC, wanted to get rid of the cumberbund and little waste straps, and have more attachement points. To keep hands free, all my lights are strapped to a helmet, but I still have to attach my anchor tool (I dive in a lot of current), a goody bag, a safety sausage, a reel, and shears from cutting myself from all the monfilament. I will customize this rig (pimp my rig is awesome, wish I had thought of that) by ditching the ditchable weight system and going back to a weight belt. That will free up the waste belt to attach a good gear pocket for all my goodies and doodads. I will tighten the straps some, but that is going to make it very difficult to put on and take off especially with my drysuit as the dump valve is at the shoulder. I'd love to come up with something to cover the wingnuts and bolts to keep it from snagging the drysuit, has anyone come up with anything for this?

You mean like a Halcyon MC storage pack?

Sometimes doubles as a nifty spot for an SMB too ;)

Be forewarned however, it tends to clash with Air2's, so don't be surprised when you open your gear bag and find the Air2 in several pieces.
