I've switched to the long hose configuration a while back, and my octo is on a very short hose. In order to let the hoses route properly for a single rig, I've had to move the octo to the front port. Due to the fact that the primary and secondary ports are different sizes, I had to flip the first stage so that the environmental seal faces upwards. Is this the way you guys have it?

Picture won't load....:(

I sent my DST back and got the DS4 which doesn't have the odd-sized ports.

Aha, that's how you get by that problem........hmm, I'll try it like this otherwise I'll switch it back. Don't want that DS system to get dammaged.

You should be fine however your reg faces. Most people who use an atx200 have the dry chamber up, exposed, because of the larger primary port and hose routing and even if the dry chamber was damaged by something that punctured the dry diaphragm it would only flood the chamber, your reg would still work correctly until you were able to get the problem fixed.

I've got the xtx50 and my DS faces up as well. I always thought it was strange but I haven't really worried about it. It works fine for me.

Thanks for the input guys.

or...

you could turn it back down, put an adapter on the front port, plug your BU reg into that, then get a standard size long hose and plug it into the rear standard port. Then everything would be honkie-doorie. Well sort of...
