Which one you would prefer for an octopus?
Both are told to be balanced 2nd's and cold water capable.
All I know about their difference XTX40 is a standard XTX 2nd and has a venturi adjustment, and egress has a low profile case with no adjustments.

What's more to decide which one do you offer?

:)

I went with the XTX40 octopus simply because I feel safer with it. I know people have tested the Egress at 50 meters in cold water and it works very well down there too but I still feel a little bit better with that regular second stage on my chest.

Both work well, but I have had no problems with my Egress after over 600 dives in various conditions (deep, cold, etc). I like the Egress because it is compact and ideal for travelling with, but the XTX40 is a fine reg too, so whichever way you go, you aren't going to be disappointed.
