Apeks Atx200

Looking for opinions on the ATX200, pro or con.

What I am after is a high performance recreational regulator for both cold and warm waters, and am willing to spend the bucks now as opposed to feeling I have to upgrade later.

I know the APEKS line is very well respected here and, for that reason alone, I have decided to purchase from the APEKS line.

I have decided on the ATX40 for an alternate, but the decision on the primary is proving to be more difficult.

I have heard the arguments for the TX50/DS4, ATX50, TX100.

What I haven't heard is much on the ATX200.

I would appreciate any comments from those of you who dive the ATX200 or are familiar with the ATX200.

I'm not familiar with the 200's first stage as far as using it. According to Apeks, the 200's second stage is almost identical to the ATX50's second (heat exchanger is slightly bigger, I guess). Basically, all your going to get with 200 is a lighter weight first stage (which doesn't mean much to me) and a bigger bill. I have DST, DS4, and TX100 first stages, and I can't tell the difference in breathability of any of them when tuned to the same IP. Perhaps a machine could .

I also wouldn't spend the extra money on an ATX40. It's just a backup, so the weight and size reduction isn't important, IMO (unless you intend to use it a lot ).

I would buy an ATX50/DS4 if possible or the ATX100 (which is basically an ATX50 second with a TX100 first) over the expensive ATX200. The ATX100 is about $100 cheaper than the ATX200 . Getting an ATX50/DS4 is a bit of a trick, but the cost should be well under an ATX100.
