Hi,

I am planning on doing my AOW cert this spring with Northeast Scuba in Chelmsford, MA and am looking for input from anyone who may have used them in the past, or has comments about the choice. I know that the owner there is a very experienced and seasoned tech teacher and diver, and that the instructors there are experienced as well. I had a less-than-excellent experience with my OW cert at a differenct LDS as the instructor had just switched agencies (padi to ssi) and others in my class needed lots of special attention. I was originally certified under SSI and NE scuba is PADI, i am not really concerned about this as I am looking to get the most out of my AOW class and to find the best possible instructor regardless of the affiliation. Any input that you fine people may have would be much appreciated. Thanks for the time.

Tom's the man....8000+ dives, practicing deep technical rebreather trimix diver/course director, diving for over 30 years, etc. His dive resume puts him in an elite class by any standard.

I have taken 3 classes with Tom over the years. In one of those classes the Dive Master had over 2000 dives and was a practicing deep trimix diver.

With that being said, he is not the kind of instructor that will make you feel warm and fuzzy. He has a very no-nonsense approach. Having that expectation, you can learn a lot.

NE Scuba has several very good instructors. I'm sure you will not be disapointed with your course. I did my divemaster there and am currently doing my IDC with Tom (He's a course director).

Good luck

Al
