Hi, I just got two Faber OMS LP98 steel tanks with OMS valves. Are the valves anything special or extraordinary? Useful in manifold setup? Okay to replace with 3000psi valves? Thanks for any comments.

What you have is a good solid valve with a recalled singling cap. The flat caps were the first generation, they were found to work harden and blow the end off. OMS did a voluntary recall 20-30 years ago and replaced them with the rounded end caps. That OMS is long since gone and the newer style caps are only available aftermarket now.
Nothing wrong with those valves, but I would not recommend using them with the flat caps installed.

Thanks! Here is the other valve.

Thanks for this, @Tracy. I had no idea, hadn't heard. I have a couple of these original flat caps that I purchased new ca. 1995, that I still use when I occasionally break apart my OMS manifold.
