I own a Sanyo Xacti VPC-C6 and use with the Epoque EHS-500 X housing. I am ready to buy a light and am looking for information/recommendations on lights including the light Epoque makes, the EL-1225.

Any ideas/comments are much appreciated!

I don't thinkg that light will do much good during the day because it's only 25watts. It might be usefull for night dives if it casts a wide beam.

Does your housing have a filter ? You should be able to get pretty decent footage during the day w/o lights as long as you have a filter. Lights during the day will make the colors pop if your light is very powerfull, even then it will only be for closeup and macro shots.

No I don't yet have a filter. I planned on buying the Epoque filter at the same time I bought the light, but perhaps I'll hold off on the light based on your feedback. I bought the camera and housing in Singapore last month prior to a trip to the Maldives. I only realized the importance of the filter once I got to the Maldives, read the manual and shot some video. The video was pretty decent of the larger stuff, ie. sharks and rays, but defintely lacked some of the pop I probably would have achieved with a filter when shooting action on the reefs.

If a do invest in a light as well, is there any you would recommend? Thanks!

Definitely get the filter.

Your camcorder and housing are tiny. I think a light powerful enough for day use will be bigger than your housing. Maybe you should stick with the filter for day and get the epoque light for night.
