I have been on their property, but did not stay there. There is a recent trip report posted on www.scubadiving.com , check it out. Also there is a nice report in the most recent Undercurrent dive news letter.

drscoles,
my family stayed there this past july.
managment and staff very friendly and helpful.
accommondations and facilities very clean.
food is varied and well prepared.
dive shop very safe and fun to dive with.
on weekends many locals come and relax with their families.
nice resort and would return.
regards

Funny, I almost posted the exact same question. I read Doc Vikingo's piece in Undercurrent and also received an e-mail ad for Sunset Waters last week.

I haven't been to Sunset Waters but I have spent time at Habitat Curacao, which is nearby. The diving was excellent and the only drawback was the remoteness of the resort. I'm sure the same is true for Sunset Waters but it sounds like they have a nice all-inclusive plan at reasonable rates.

sunset waters is not that far from civilization.
they have a shuttle that goes back and forth to town.
we used it a couple of times to go shopping and once had the driver give us "his" tour of the island.
imo sunset's location is ideal, not too close to town and not out in the boonies.

Stayed there last Nov and can attest to the high quality of the resort and dive operation. We rented a car for the week but only used it once. Pretty much all we needed was at the resort. We visited Habitat and SW is a much better with a nice sandy beach. Although about 30 min from town, SW is close to some of the best diving e.g. mushroom forest, and shore diving off their beach is easy. Only a couple glitches with their utilities, a couple hours w/o water and electric but did not impact our stay and were resolved quickly. The rooms are large and overlook the beach and ocean, ours overlooked their nude beach but only a couple guys took advantage, :sad_2: .

Just got back from there Tuesday morning. Great time. Weather hasn't been that good. Cloudy and brief rain showers during the day. Great diving. The house reef was one of the best dives. Food was so-so. Dive staff great. It was well worth every penny. Shuttle would take you into Willenstad for free certain times a day or anywhere on the island for, I believe, $5.

Hi Mike

My wife (non diver) and I stayed at the sunset waters for a week in October 2004. we had a great time. The beach was not crowded at all, sometimes only about six people out there. It is a nice beach with a great lagoon with many kinds of fish. The hotel manager Jim Hunter makes sure all your needs are taken care of. The staff is great as well. We wanted to get something from a store in town and one of the staff guys drove into town and got what we needed and put it in the room for us. The food was very good as well. The dive operation was professional and fun to dive with. Good dive sites near by to include the mushroom forest. We had such a good time we are going back on the 28th of Feb 2005.hope you enjoy your stay there.
