I am just asking because today, I left a bunch of crap in the little parking lot. A circular crab trap with all the netting gone, just the frame left. A two piece plastic oar, 2 feet length of lead? pipe (not sure if it was lead or not, it was heavy but too encrusted to know for sure), one piece of broken beer bottle, two sections of copper pipe, fibre glass flag pole and one small steel chain.
Picked that stuff up today (oct 6th 2007), over two dives but since it started to rain heavily. Took off with my buddy in a hurry and left that stuff all behind. Only realised when we were on the second narrow heading back to Vancouver already. I kind of feel bad just leaving a bunch of junk on the side of the road. I mean, what is the point of cleaning up the ocean only to mess up the land around it not a stone throw away.
If anyone lives around the area and can pick it up for me and dispose of it. Tell me and I will buy you a dinner, anything you want.
PS. Found an engine block too, there was a long bit of rope (hemp) attached, I think it was one of those DIY anchor. However without a lift bag and a buddy that was trained in recovery, wasn't going to tackle that one by myself. Anyone interested in doing this? Going to need a few lift bags though, I don't have any myself.
