Redding, Chico, or Red Bluff? Just curious to find out how many people are here from those area's. I'm new to diving and would like to start looking for dive buddies. Thanks ;)

Even though no one is responding there are a ton of divers in the area. One problem is that no one is promoting Local diving. The Redding area has a lot to offer. Both lakes are great places to gain experience and keep aquainted with special diving skills. For the more advanced diver we have a river that runs through the middle of town that is down right cool to dive when the flows are right.

Keep looking 13psi, when we get together after your class, that's a move in the right direction.

Thanks man, I can't wait to get out there and dive. I'm assuming you're talking about the sacramento river? How do you dive there with such a current?

Only if the flows are good. And yes it's the sacramento. Depending on the location in the river, you can dive it safely. The key is to start out slow and learn a little bit at a time. I used to do a little bottle collecting and gold diving. Both are fun. No you won't find enough of either to pay for your new sport but the thrill of finding gold is way cool. The river is no place for the thrill seeking diver. Too easy to screw up bad. But when approached with due caution and sound reasoning it's perhaps the best diving in the area.

Sweet, you will have to take me diving when I have enough experience for the river.

I live in Woodland and dive Monterey usually once a month with this dive club.

Diving with experienced local divers is a great way to develop skills proficency while learning how to dive Monterey safely.
