The purge covers on older Oceanic regs get brittle and break into pieces. You can buy new covers.

I guess at least they are consistent. Easier to prepare for a problem that is known to occur.It is amazing how crappy they make dive gear. I have the same regs with the same problems.
I have not had any problems buying service kits or parts like the covers he needs.Even before Covid, Oceanic parts were next to impossible to get. Six months delay or more. I would cut your losses and buy some decent regs.
