I suppose the title says it all  Thats when my father and I will be making our trip, so I figured I'd see if any other SB people would be there :)

Just a bump, getting some fresh eyes on the thread in case anyone who might be there missed it :)

Trying to find a good price on a trip from the 3-11th, looks like we'll just miss each other

I'll be there from the 4th to the 16th. Since I probably wouldn't be doing a checkout dive until the 5th, not sure I would be much use either.

Dave

I'll be there from the 11th to 18th RUU. Maybe we could meet and dive at Dutch Springs beforehand.

Managed to forget my login temporarily there. I have never been to Dutch Springs, so I don't know the procedure (plus I dont have all my own gear). I could use a checkout dive to make sure my new camera housing, BC and computer are all functional, but my schedule is a little crazy for the next few weeks. What's the deal about gear rental around Dutch Springs, and is it really as interesting as it sounds diving in a Quarry?

Dave

Hi Dave,
The gate opens at 8. When you get to Dutch all divers are required to present their C card and fill out a waiver when they pay their admission. They have tank rentals and a fill station there. The quarry itself is @ 50 acres and up to 100' deep. There are a lot of training platforms as well as various attractions to see - many sunken boats, planes, cars trucks, even a suspended helicopter. Lots of bass, some big trout, koi, and other fish too. Visibility varies by season, best I'm seen was @ 80', lately it's been @ 20 - 25' so it's good for navigation practice. A lot of the sunken items have guide ropes to them or they form circuits. There are a couple decent walls too. Check out their website - things to do for non-divers too. There are 2 dive shops nearby, one on Rt 512, one on Rt 191. Both open early on weekends. Here's links:

Dutch Springs
Lehigh Valley Dive Center on RT 191
The Scuba Tank on RT 512

If you can make it sometime before you leave for Bonaire let me know. I'll be there this Saturday, as well as Aug 28, and probably the Saturday and Monday of Labor Day weekend. There is a detour coming from Rt 191 so you're better off coming from Rt 512 for now.

Nick - You have a PM coming...

TogaLive,
Hope you have a good time. If you look at my profile and see someone wearing that t shirt - say hello.
