Anyone from Little Phody able to give me directions on how to get to King Beach in the Newport area? We went there for our initial open water dive and wanted to go back tomorrow evening for an anniversary dive. I treid Mapquesting it but you need a little more info than King Beach RI.

TIA,
PTN

Well, first you take a left at the Dunkin Donuts, than a right at the other Dunkin Donuts, then you head past where the Bob's Coffee house was until that Dunkin Donuts opened down the street......

Actually it's pretty easy to get there. It is off of Ocean Ave in Newport which is the road that runs down Newport's southern shoreline from Brenton Point. There is a sign posted at the entrance that says King's Beach Fishing Area and if you turn in there, you'll find a big dirt parking lot. The sign was damaged last year, but hopefully it has been replaced since then. It is just a little bit East of Brenton Point State Park between where Harrison Ave and Brenton Rd enter Ocean Ave.

Hey Paul, would that be the same as Kings Beach?
Google will get you there.

So I go to the Dunkin Donuts and look for the sign that isn't there any more? ;) Thanks Chris, you're the best! Maybe if I'm lucky Arnold Zucker will be on the corner and he'll direct me the last half mile. :rofl3:

Thanks Pat, King Beach, Kings Beach, who knew there was such a difference.

:mooner: That's not helping any! :mooner:

Hi Paul,

Try these #'s on Google Earth.
41 26 58.35
71 20 26.53
Goosberry I. will be to the E.
Brenton Point State Park will be to the W.

Take Rt. 114 into Newport.
After newport Hospital left onto Rhode Island Ave.
Rt. onto Memorial Blvd.
I think it's the next light right onto Bellevue Ave.
Follow along untill you see water follow road along water
you will go by a few beach clubs, about a mile further on left.

Hope this helps.

John

Can we stop talking about donuts?? You guys are killing me :D

I "dove" it once last year with Dave and it was new england brail diving at it's finest. Bagged it after 10 minutes, but it sure sounded nice with the big rocks in the left cove and the huge rock extending out.

Hope you have a good dive down there Paul.

Now I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about donuts for weeks!

I'm not making this up, the other day I was was talking to someone at work and I actually said, "You remember that pizza place that used to be next to the Fleet Bank... I mean where the Fleet Bank used to be...." at which point I slapped my forehead "Arrgh! I am starting to speak like a Rhode Islander!!! I've gone local!!!"
