We are going on the Carnival Breeze Dec 30th to Jan 4th out of Galveston with stops in Costa Maya and Cozumel. Got a group of 6 divers so far, all with a decent amount of experience. We are trying to stay off the cruise ship tours. If you are reasonably experienced (and fun) and want to join our group, you can.

Only six days? Trips like that have enough overhead that we always try to go for at least 14 days. And also avoid those "back to back weeks" cruises that are actually just two separate one week cruises... those waste 2-4 days going all the way back to the US port in the middle of the trip just to come all the way back to the islands. Better to stay out of home port the whole time.

Our goal is to maximize the number of islands to the number of days (more islands in fewer days). That way you spend more time diving and less time just traveling around.

Our recommended west coast dive shop - where we've been twice - has seen a dip in its ratings. Not sure if they've changed ownership or what. For our next visit this August we're trying Barbados Blue (info@divebarbadosblue.com, 246-434-5764) which comes well recommended and has so far been awesome setting up our visit. They're not up the west coast, more on the "corner" separating the two coasts, but they go in both directions. I'll post a trip report once we've seen how they are in real life.
When in Aug? We are heading there in Feb and very interested in how Barbados Blue is compared to WCDC.

On the inbound plane right now, in fact. I'll share LDS details soon.

No diving this year. Have a cruise booked next year. Coz, Panama, Grand Cayman. Costa Rica I've been to Cozumel a bunch of times but never dived there. Something always came up. Coz is on the agenda this time. I've dived in Grand Cayman years ago. Looking forward to diving there again. Have tours with my wife booked in the other places.

I'm diving Grand Cayman this week. It's a wonderful place. And, a brave squid even hung out with me today and let me film him. Normally, you just get a burst of ink and they're long gone.

Who are you diving with?

Hi Mac. I only ever dive with Just Dive Cayman. They are just consistently excellent.
