I had an chance to do some work in Irvine Cove and got to walk out on the cliffs of this house. The viz was amazing and I could see dolphins and sea lions from the house (this was during those 35ft viz days a few days ago).

Anyone made the trek out to these bluffs before? I'd love to know any stories of this place as it looks untouched. It looks like a decent swim unless done from a boat and there is no way to dive the beach in the cove without a resident with you.

It's right in between deadman's and crystal cove reef, I would predict great diving straight out from the point.

the entire california coast is public, but you do have to find access.

If you could somehow get to the end of the road labeled "el morro beah mhp", (top of your map) you could then dive from the shore there, it's only about 1000ft to the point.

mhp = mobile home park

good luck and give it a try! let me know how it is

I went out a few days after I posted this and free dove this site right before the large swell came in. I was lucky enough to get down to the cove side with a resident I know and check it out minus the tanks. This is definitely a site to dive when conditions are great and there are minimal waves as it is pretty exposed. I was surprised at how much kelp there was and the amount of structure worth checking out later. Sad thing is conditions are not what they were so I guess i'll wait for another year to go again!

Also, there are places to park (somewhat legally) where the old Mobile home park used to be across PCH but it is a long walk.
