camping there next weekend and i see there is an "underwater park" marked by a buoy. wondering if it's worth bringing my gear.

GatorJoe it would be a crime not to bring gear, if boat you can go to lawson bluff or eweing island and pop in any where you see fit. Shore diving could be done I'm sure somewhere.

The park bouy is a barge that sand covers and uncovers for the most part.

The sealife is awesome and everywhere on the outer and less in the bays area.

HAPPY DIVING

I just got back from there :) Definitely worth dragging the gear with you.

Also, if it's crowded check out Matia right next door. I dove 2 tanks on each one. Wear sunscreen if it's suny... I have a hood-shaped sunburn on my face.

I have several dive reports and photos on my blog:
Optical Ocean: Above and Below.: Scallops and Nudis and Tigers, Oh My!
Optical Ocean: Above and Below.: Sucia Part Two

Lawson Bluff and Ewing Island are favorites. Not much in the bays, but crabbing might be open (not on Sunday though). You'll need a boat to do very much, or at least an inflatable and engine. We shore dive off the bluffs all the time.

The dive site shown on the map is a non-existent barge. Don't bother.

Little Patos is close by and not a bad dive.
