I was out snorkeling south of the pier tied to the buoy's and noticed tons of these small Jellyfish. Anyone know what type of jelly they were and if they would sting? I tried to avoid them as much as possible, but ended up with a small rash on my leg. I am curious if it was because of those jellyfish. Anyone Know? Thanks...

Was diving there Sunday...didn't notice them....but there was that weird layer if green water. I think it was out fall from Hillsborough inlet.

That looks like what they were, they were everywhere I looked. Good to know they don't sting so I won't be constantly trying to avoid them next time I go. I had no clue what they were, didn't want to touch them to find out if they would sting either. Are they common to always see there?

It is very unusual to see that many jellies there. I think it just happens sometimes and then they are gone. It is not unusual for there to be a cloudier warm layer of water on top of the cooler water 5 ft down or so. There can even be a current in the lower layer and none in the upper layer, or vice versa. I think the warm water floats on top of the cooler water.
