I'll be finishing up my open water cert soon and was wondering if anyone dives there or lives around the redding area? I'm basically looking for some dive buddies. I don't want to get certified and never go diving! If anyone knows of any dive clubs around the area plz let me know. Thanks in advance.

Tell me more about yourself. Are you taking your training in the redding area? If so from who?

I dive Whiskeytown all the time. The area does have a dive club, Shasta Divers. Good luck finding out more information. Sometimes the guy at howells will set you up sometimes he'll just tell you that they are a clickish club and don't bother. They are a nice bunch of divers, mostly old school and interesting. They have a huge amount of experience, mostly local.

If you're taking lessons locally maybe someone in your class can buddie up. Or drop me a line and I might be able to meet you for a dive.

Hey icantdive55, I'm currently taking the course at Howells. I have one more class setting and then we start our confined water dive this weekend. I will for sure try to hook up with some of my class mates for future dives. I would also like to dive with more experience divers like yourself, to build up my confidence and gain more knowledge about diving etc...

Thanks for responded to my thread..Oh just curious, I was up on whiskeytown sunday and saw some divers, by any chance was that you?

No that wasn't me. I try and stay away from the lake on big weekends. I got certified through Howells a while back.

I've got no problem diving with new divers. In fact I enjoy it. But I have my quirks. PM me with your number and I'll call some time when I'm going out.
