I'll be in North Carolina for our annual trip to the outerbanks and planning to get in at least 2 days of diving (and hopefully 1 night).

I spoke with Bob Gabriel when I called a shop in Virginia Beach and he seemed enthusiastic and professional. I was wondering if anyone has been diving with him? Any thoughts?

Also, any recommended spots for night diving? Shore and boat are options.

Mahalo and Aloha!

Bob is awesome!!!! he is the most enthusiastic diver i know! and he will really take care of you and make sure you have a great dive wherever you go.

Thanks Jaycen... I got the impression he was enthusiastic when talking with him on the phone. Glad to hear my expectations are correct. Now I'm looking forward to my dives even more!

Bob is a good guy, but his dog is Awesome.
He went out on the Lindsey with us to the Chenango, kept everyone entertained & waited until getting back to the dock to relieve himself. I'm talking 13 hours.

Not sure when the trip was planned for, but curious if it has taken place, and what your experience was. Having been out with Bob (and Captain Crockett, of course) on the Poppy, I suspect you had an enjoyable, and colorful, experience. As others have said, Bob is great, very enthusiastic, and provides a perfect balance for Crockett's somewhat more laconic demeanor. They also go to sites (U-85, Jackson) that are not as regularly frequented by the 'mid-state' operations.
