I know it is a short notice - is anyone available to dive tomorrow? I hope to visit Lane's Cove on Cape Ann. Please call me at xxx-xxx-xxx

Thank you,
Ilya

The waves at Lane's Cove were pretty bad - within what I consider tolerable limits, but just barely. Visibility was 2'-5', and I was being noticeably tossed even at 25' depth. At least it was sunny and warm.

Yikes! I dove it once when conditions were similar. Vowed never to do again. Not fun. Even got a bit seasick from subtle surge. Tricky to get in and out of water there with any wave action. Esp. when tide low and rocks slippery.

Thanks for report

Where is Lane's Cove? I don't see it of the map from CapeAnn Divers.

It's a little west of Folly Cove. Assuming we use the same map, trace west from Folly along "Lanesville", and you will see a tiny hook-shaped cove right at the join of Langsford St. (section of Rt 127) and Washington St. That's Lane's Cove. Plum Cove is listed on the map, and is the next one west.

BTW, Lane's Cove seems to have unusual amount of lost gear. In September I lost a Miniwave light there, then in early October I found a quick-release weight pocket from a weight-integrated BC, and last Friday I found someone's writing slate with a compass, and managed to lose it before I got out of the water!

I dove Lanes Cove once this year. I didn't think that it was bad at all. It was a little tricky getting in the water, due to some slippery rocks. But before I bring my gear, I do a quick recon to get a feeling of the site that I'm going to enter and exit from. I also try to plan how I'm going to transport my gear to and from the area that I'm going to dive into.

I'd dive Lanes cove again, its better then other places around this area.
