I'm looking to do DM and possibly instructor this summer or fall and Coconut Tree is one of my training possibilities. If you've done pro courses with them (DM, IDC or both) what was your experience like? Would you recommend them?

I have never taken any of their courses, but I did dive with them when I was in Roatan. I can tell you the West End is just perfect. What a place to live for a couple weeks. I have often told myself If I ever go pro, that is probably where I would go to do it. The place itself was first rate. The lady that ran it was very sweet. The divers were a collection of old guys down to college boys. For my dives, they asked if I minded having a DMIT be my personal guide? Really? I mind having my own personal guide for free? He was awesome. I told him point-blank I was a novice diver and he said he looked forward to it. Excellent guide. Pointed out many things on the reef I simply scanned past. When we came back in they grabbed all my gear and rinsed it for me and told me I was free to head up to the porch and hang out with the students while it dried. As we were sitting there chatting, the DM came up and said there was a missing diver in the water and for everyone to gear up. After about 10 seconds I realized it was a training exercise, but he was like a drill sergeant organizing his students.

The island is beautiful, the west end is breathtaking. The reefs are impressive. Like I said, I didnt do the training courses, but I would recommend Coconut Tree to anyone.

Been a while, but a few snapshots for ya.

I have been diving with them for over 10 years. I have had many interactions with students that always had the best things to say. You will not go wrong by selecting them. I believe Will Welborn is the go pro instructor. He is one of the best on the Island.

I dove with them last week, did my advanced open water and have nothing but great things to say about them. It was a great week, their a first class operation with, a great group of people who really care about the divers safety and maxamizing everyones experience. There are few places in the world that I'd go back to in a hearbeat and be willing to spend a few months at, the west end and CCT would be on the list.
