Ok 2 dives on Sat, 40 pictures taken, all in raw. Card inserted into reader and brought up on computer, and nothing shows up, no files found. hmmmmmmm WTH??????
Properties on card show 450 MB in used space in 1 GB card. After hours of trying different things, defrag, scan... I finally just burnt the whole card to a dvd and reformatted the disc. Now there are over 9600 .chk files and my hidden pictures on a dvd I can't get to read on any program I try. Any ideas? :shakehead: :shakehead:

The .chk files are fragments from when you ran scandisk. My guess would be they're likely junk. There are a couple of utilities on the web that you can use to unfragment them, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for them to work. The more things you did to the card, the less likely the possibility of recovering your raw files.

What program do you normally use to read/edit the files? Photoshop or what came with the camera?

Are there any directories on the dvd? What are they? And are there sub-directories in each directory? I have a 350 so I'm familiar with the way data is stored on the card.

found.000 is the only thing that comes up as the dvd name. Then when you click on it is show no files or folders.

I tried the Olympus photo program and rawshooter. Right away in the beginning and neither one recognized anything on the card. At that point you could still view them on the camera, but after downloading then nothing

So where are the 9600 .chk files? In the top level directory?

Should we continue this via PM?

Hate to tell you this, CC, but if you could look at them on the camera, they were there. I've had a similar issue and it was my card reader. I've had, on many occasions, to turn off the computer, take out the card, turn it back on, reinsert...because the computer couldn't see the file in the reader. Your best bet would have been to use the camera USB cord to download the pictures directly. I've also had issues where RawShooter wouldn't find the file, and I'd have to click on the path on the RawShooter file menu to find the card. If you've reformatted the card you're almost certainly SOL on those pictures though.

I tried the usb cord also and it didn't read it either. I formatted the card on the computer last time I downloaded, should I have only used the camera to format the xd card???
I did save the Info to a dvd.

If you haven't reformatted your card - and I don't think you would have til you had the photos, right? - then you should be able to stick the card in the camera and download from there. Or uninstall and reinstall your card reader...

edit: hmm, it looks like you did reformat? Why?

Can you see the orf files on the dvd? Ack, I'm interested to see how this turns out...

Yeah after I ran defrag on the disk I couldn't see them on the camera either. So I guess I am just outta luck, dammmmmmmmmmm
