Take a look at the British Virgin Islands. Easy to get there, great beaches and weather, lots of variety in diving, small boats, villas and resorts - no chain hotels.

Now that Continental is flying once a week direct out of Houston, Bonaire is alot easier to get to especially from Texas.

As far as resorts, the Den Lamen condos or Yachtclub apartments are both small and good values. Den Lamen is a little more expensive, but is brand new, upscale and located on the water adjacent to Bonaire Dive and Adventure. You can get the studio for $100 a night which includes balcony, full kitchen and flat screen TV with surround sound stereo.

The Yachtclub Apartments are about a quarter mile down the road across the road from Harbor Village. They have one bedroom and studio apartments available for about $60 to $70 a night. These are fully equipped with kitchens with all utensils. The one bedrooms have A/C in the bedroom only.

Both of these offer truck/apartment deals.

Bonaire Dive and Adventure (BDA) is located in the building with Den Lamen. They have one of the best house reefs on the island (#1 dive site in the Caribbean for species spotted) and they have an incredible deal on nitrox (6 days unlimited 32% tanks and weights for only $105) .

There is nothing comparable to the Compleat Angler, but Karels Beach Bar on the pier in Kralendijk is a fun drinking spot.
