Scotty:
I've been to Cozumel, Cancun, Jamaica, Aruba and am going to Grand Cayman this summer. Why do people like Coz? You go so fast because of the current you can't see anything anyway. I loved Aruba. Great ship wrecks and just pretty nice diving. If you do go look up Clive on the internet. The night life is fine. Nice casinos (came out $87 ahead), and nice places to eat. We will go back sometime but for now we are trying all new places. We will NEVER go back to MEXICO. WE HATE it. Everyone is trying to sell you something all the time. Aruba is free and easy.

Great Scotty........go to Aruba and never returnt to Coz. We'll all be glad you did. Really. Those of us who love it will continue to do so. It's getting too damn crowded anyway. We would all prefer that more people had your opinion of the place but I guess that's not the case. As stated earlier, you just need to learn to drift dive. You obviously have not learned to do so which can cause you to move along quite quickly. If you master your bouyancy then you can cruise, slower, just above the coral. Get away from it too far both on the bottom and along the walls and you'll move faster. Current speed changes. You could have been there when it was ripping. Sounds more like that you did not really care for the people more than anything and that's fine too. There are many places for all to go which is why they are there.............we all have our particular likes and dislikes. I've been diving in Coz, St. Maarten, Saba, St. Croix, Keys and Puerto Rico. I'll put Coz diving up against just about anywhere.

I have to agree with the masses here, Coz is a great place to go. I have been there several times since '92 and have always had a great time. I was in that neck of the woods just last August but, decided to stay in Playa del Carmen (PdC) instead. I was still able to go to Coz and get some diving in there too (with a little planning for the ferry)

Stayed at Shangri-la Caribe on the north end of PdC. http://www.shangrilacaribe.net/ The resort was great as was the food. The diving was similar to Coz (currents and reefs) but not as deep. We also got to see the mainland treasures (ruins, jungle trip, horseback riding). And to top it off you can go dive the Cenotes (underground rivers). For night life you have got 5th Ave with the resurants and shops and nightclubs.

If traveling with non-divers, this was the best solution that I could find in Mexico.

You might also want to consider St. Lucia as you can do everything that I mentioned above. Just substitute Vulcano for Ruins :)

Where ever you decided to go, have a great time.
