I did a nine day trip to Coz a couple of weeks ago with my wife and sister. We dove with Aldora every day based on recommendations on this board. We were delighted with their service.

Are there any other operators anywhere else in the world of that caliber? I mean that rent steel 120s, with DIN valves, have fast boats that work, have guides that know the reefs like those with Aldora, that take guests where they want to go, etc.

Aldora was a little more expensive, but they delivered service commensurate with the charge. I am happy to pay more when I get more.

My only suggestion to Aldora would be to offer custom nitrox blends. My sis and I used air on Punta Sur, but would have preferred a 28% tank.

My wife and I dove with Aldora in March and were very satisfied as well. Dive Tortola in the BVI is on a par with Aldora in all respects except they don't offer the steel 120's. Other than that they offer full valet diving.

I just assumed that Aldora, like it seems everyone else, gets their gas from "the" fill station on Coz. From what I saw there, I wouldn't plan on getting any special mixes.

Anyone on Coz want to comment and correct me?

The vast majority of dive ops in the Caribbean use alum 80s with yoke valves. Some dive ops can get you 100s if you request them ahead of time. The Nekton liveaboards have steel 95s with yoke but other than that, I haven't seen other Carib ops using steel. The only place I have seen alot of steel tanks w/din valves is in California.

I do agree that getting special fills in Cozumel is probably impossible as all tanks (as far as I know) are filled at one central fill station. They can do nitrox but I think it is a set %.
