The camera can hold 5 P2 cards? So using 5 4GB cards that's 40 minutes of video right? Then of course you have to transfer your footage to a hard drive (laptop) or some other storage device while on vacation.

I'm pretty sure that it only has 2 - P2 slots. They do however make 8 gig cards. The drawback is that they cost over $1200.00 each. Remember that you can always shoot HD onto the miniDV tape. Full 1080i HD takes up ALOT of space on either tape or a card though! They do offer a high capacity hard drive unit that you put your card into and transfer all files so you can re-use the card. $$$ I work at a TV station and we are considering changing all of our news cameras out to the broadcast version of this cam. Hoping to get one in at the station soon to demo. I'll let you know if we do.

You are correct about the 2 P2 card slots. Panasonic is also supposed to come out with a 16gb card by the end of this year. We'll see.
One thing about the shooting to tape. The one downside to the Panasonic camera is that if you shoot to tape you are only shooting in mini-dv. The camera records HD at a bitrate of 100mbps which can't be recorded to tape.
