I have a 60's era Nikonos II that I am going to sell. Is there a market for such an old camera? It appears to be in good shape, although I think the advance mechanism needs refurbishing. I doesn't look like it has been flooded. Any ideas how much it might be worth?

Condition would be everything as it would have mostly collector value.

Film cameras are a niche market and those who still use them use an SLR like the Nikonos RS or a housed SLR, or lacking that they use a Nikonos V for the TTL metering and improved strobe options. At the other exremee, the Nikonos III is still valued by some as it is perhpas the most bullet proof Nikonos model that was made.

First take the strobe conection off to see if you have 2 or 3 pins. The two pin conection can not be made to work with any eletronic strobe, it only works with the old flash bulb system. If it has 2 pins, it would need to be converted to 3 - so that is a value minus.

Next, do you have a lenes to go with it, if so what do you have? Almost all bodies come with a 35mm, but there are 80, 28, 20, and 15mm lens also and the small the number the more valuable it is.

After that it is all on condition, the Nik II is not a popular as a Nik III as the improvements between the II and III make the III much more reliable.

But on the whole, the Nik II is a colectors item and it will all depend if you have a collector willing to pay the coin when you sell.

Log onto Ebay and check completed items for the Nikonos II and see what they are going for.

Thanks so much for the replies. You can see the camera and accessories by going HERE
It comes with a 35mm lens, and a 2 pin strobe connection(unfortunately). It will also need servicing and the film advance lever slips, as it looks like the plastic gear has stripped teeth. It comes with some other vintage stuff, such as an original leather case, viewfinder, rubber lens hood, filters, Sekonic light meter with nikonos case, etc.
I am just going to throw it all onto ebay for $20.00 and hope for the best. Thanks again, Bill J.

Thanks for the link, his camera seems to be in much better condition than mine. Hopefully, someone will take the camera and accessories off my hands. I put it on Ebay a few minutes ago, you can see it HERE
Wish me luck!
