I'm a Fish!
I just got the best hint.

Put some hand lotion on any spot before washing it.
The glycerin in the lotion loosens and lifts the spot.
It worked!

I did this on 3 different shirts.. washing clothes after a recent trip, and I got food spots dropped on my [cough cough] chest.. (OK I eat like a slob say it)

Anyway try it!

What's your best hint?

If you have an recent ink stain on cloth or anything else, put some hair spray on it before you wash it. The hair spray defuses the ink and it will come out in the wash.

When drying a large blanket or quilt, place a few (clean) tennis balls in as well. They keep the quilt moving around and prevent wet lumps.

Reminder - the dog's favorite tennies aren't a good match. They kind of defeat the efforts of the washing machine, and the dog looks pitiful lying there on the cold floor, mooning at the dryer until they come out.

Happy Households,
Scuba-sass :-)

I have heard that peanut butter can remove the sticky residue from labels and price tags. (can't authenticate)

I know that Baby Oil will remove tree sap (like on your hands or arms) better than anyting else. Baby Oil will also remove some adhesives, but it can take some elbow grease.

(how many babies do they have to squeeze to fill a bottle of Baby Oil?) - - - Sorry.

If you have marks from a Sharpie (permanent ink pen) on something, one way to remove it is to go over the existing mark with a fresh Sharpie, then wipe quickly. The fresh Sharpie ink will dissolve the old ink, and you can wipe it away. It sometimes takes a few tries to get it all, but it does work. I bought some used rental Wakeboard bindings for 1/2 price. Once I removed the rental number, they look good as new and I saved over $200.

I'm still trying to work my way through the technicalities of successful posting SOOOOOOOOOOOOO it's just as well I can't work out who posted the "got any household hints to share" post.
Got Pets?
No? Great ..if you ever get the urge buy a goldfish or better still a fake fur pussy
Yes? DOH! Bad move...have you an ancient auntie who'd like some company?
Got kids?
Have you got an ancient auntie who'd like MORE company? NO?
try pocket money bribery re dusting, taking out the rubbish, dishwasher loading / unloading. :)
Unless the smell gets too bad, never invade the privacy of their bedroom. :)
Got a husband / partner?
Be prepared for his evasive household techniques by always having a spare pair of rubber gloves (in large)
Stick with a plain apron
Buy him his own duster and...most successful of all....
tell him NOTHING looks sexier than a naked man IRONING...

With the kids sorted and hubby looking forward to 'whatever-he-thinks-he-is-going-to-get'
quietly shut the door and GO DIVING!!

Another solution to any permanent marker (no matter how old it is) on a whole variety of surfaces is to use a whiteboard marker (versus another permanent one) and simply draw over the marks you wish to "erase", then wipe off. Some older/darker stains may have to have a few gos as above. Those babies take permanent marker off anything and you don't have to deal with any new marks where you coloured outside the lines - it's actually quite scary to consider what's in them :11:

Pour table salt on the stain, the salt absorbes the wine, leave it to dry and vacuum it up .

Simple.
