Any general tips for first time liveaboard trip?

That's what the Lycra socks are for. They stop all the rubbing blistering Etc. If you have the Lycra socks, there should be no need for Band-Aids on the feet due to diving ( I'm assuming the use of dive booties and fin straps)

I’ve been lucky to have wise divers tell me this from dive 0. I’ve worn Lycra socks from dive 1 and have never had them, luckily!

On the last LOB, a fella had Lycra socks and was in rental boots and fins and still got ‘em. Some guy even had their own and still got ‘em. I’m going to say that’s just poor fit. Anyway, my 3M bandaids were very popular.

I'm surprised but yes I suppose wearing booties that don't fit, wouldn't be alleviated by Lycra socks. Imagine the shape they would have been in if they hadn't had the socks though!

Are you sure that those peoples' socks were actually Lycra? I've seen a number of posters here on scuba board say that ordinary socks are just as good.

I’ve read this too and am skeptical. Are people wearing saggy droopy stretchy cotton socks or dress socks or....especially when wet? I haven’t worn cotton socks in 10 years so it all sounds horrible even when on land and dry (omg, Smartwool....)

These ones were definitely Lycra because i remember being so surprised when I asked them! Although, if you’re in a liveaboard and you’re renting you either use it and dive or don’t!

Real 'dive socks' are $ well spent! Mine are Henderson (80% neoprene / 20% Nylon). Probably the most useful 'cheap' scuba gear item I've ever purchased!

Cotton is the enemy when wet-like stepping into a puddle with your sneakers-and then you have to walk around with a wet sock. SAY NO TO COTTON!!!

If you're a single traveler and the fear of an unknown roommate snoring scares you, ear plugs are your best friend. Although if you have a female roommate I'm not sure if girls snore?

On my first ever livaboard on the Aquacat, I found out that my roomate wears one of those c-pap machines because of his excessive snoring. I immediately asked for a room switch there after and got a my own cabin!
