Any new news on the when and where of stuff opening?

Thanks.

The Brac Reef is eyeing a return to business in September. Brac Gypsy would probably have a little more info on this. The Alexander was scheduled to be open already ran into a problem with the electrical inspector, but hopefully will be open very shortly.

Reef Divers is finishing off the shop right now and hopes to be operational within the next few weeks. They actually have 75 Dive Pirates coming down shortly, so Mick is working his tail off. Craig and Indepth are fully functional right now. The island is rebounding slowly but surely. Never under estimate the will and intestinal fortitude of a Bracker.

The diving was great, vis was very good. Snorkeling on both sides first rate. The island needs any and all the help it can get. The are numerous homes on the north and south side available for rent so the Brac is open for business. This would be a great time to support these great people.

Brac Reef had a booth at the Long Beach Scuba Show this past weekend. I stopped by and chatted. They told me it looked like November to open, and even that was not certain. They said it's getting boring there.

Diverex your right, From what I am hearing about Brac Reef it's looking like sometime Nov.09. But who's to say for sure. Some people are saying the first of next year, and some say late Sep 09. The Brac Reef is looking pretty good, but the building is coming along very slowly. Personally I really think they need more builders on the jobs there, but they have had a few set backs also. The Lounge and the make-shift kitchen at the Brac Reef has been open for a while now. Karaoke and Dance Party night has changed from Wednesday to Friday night until the Brac Reef reopens. Karaoke, Dance party night is one of the best nights on the Brac right now, keeps some of us from going out of our minds with bordom..

The Alexander is finished it's building now, but as chibracdiver has said it's ran into problems with the electrical inspector. I heard something about not having the right stickers on their hot water heaters, whatever that means!! There is still a lot of work going on with Caribe Sands, I haven't heard anything about it's reopen date.

Most of the homes on the Brac are mostly finished their building. There is lot that hasn't been touched, but what has' is looking great. It's like this this little island has had it's first face lift.

Some people are really worried about Hurricane season on us again. I think some of us are still in shock... I know I don't ever want to be in a CAT 4 with CAT 5 gust hurricane ever again.

BracGypsy! ;)

Hey Guys,

Reef Divers are indeed open for business right now, the shop looks better than ever, the boats are all looking good and up and running, the reefs haven't sustained any noticeable damage and the bar is turning out the usual awesome drinks and food (in that order :) ) including a new Martini night... very 007 :cool2:

If you can muster a small group and find some accommodation then there's no reason not to give Mick a call and pay the Island a visit and get that personal treatment that only Reef Divers can provide.

The number of the dive shop is: 345 948 1642 and I'm sure there's various options for accommodation at the moment, the Alexander is open, you've got Breakers, Tropical Runway, Mango Manor, Villa Marbella, Sunset Cottages etc.. etc...

I'm hoping to get back there again soon myself, End of Island this year was one of the best dives I've ever done!

Thanks for the heads-up, I appreciated that tidbit of info but I'm not holding my breath that Divi will do something as they have a "no care" attitude towards the Brac or even more specific DiviTiara condos.

Concur. We were there in June and they hadn't even put tarps over the portions of time share roof damaged by Paloma. The only significant evidence of action we saw was razing the oldest wing of the hotel, and that had been done by the government.

I wonder if the property owners continue to do nothing, can the government just condemn the place and take ownership of it?
