My girlfriend and I will be at Anthony's Key resort from 2/29-3/9. Is there anyone in here going to be on Roatan or Anthonys' during the same time frame? Perhaps we could meet up for a dive or dinner.
:fish:

RoatanMan,

Do you know what the weather is like in early march in Roatan? By-the-way, why the name "RoatanMan"?

RoatanMan,

Do you know what the weather is like in early march in Roatan?

Ask me in late March.

The second quarter of the year (April, May, june) is my favorite, July & August is good as well. Warm, calm, dry. Lots of critters making more critters~ life comes up from the deep and closer to the surface.

Other times of the year, it can be a bit drizzly. My wife doesn't like it, but it really doesn't bother me. I don't care what month it is- I'm going!

By-the-way, why the name "RoatanMan"?

Greg

Thanks for asking about my name. It seemed like a good idea when I took it, no one on the board really was diving the Bay Islands. I had pretty well been diving all around most of the shorelines and seamounts. I have seen the accomodations at most AI's and properties, I have been diving with every AI and most day dive ops. There isn't a shop I haven't walked into, some are gone by now.

Roatan has grown by geometric proportions. There is a lot out there being offered that I have no intimate awareness, but I still know how diving works in the Bay Islands. During Huricane Mitch 1998 I worked for their government serving on the Comite de Emergencia. Part of my assignment was to search for the Windjammer Fantome. During that period of time, I kicked over a lot of rocks and watched some pretty amazing divers contribute their best efforts.

In retrospect, I wish I had chosen a different name, as we dive in many other places every year besides Roatan. We may go to the Philippines, Red Sea, Galapagos or Maldives, but for sure one trip (of two weeks) will be on Roatan, our home of our hearts. You make some pretty good friends there.

I think March is about as good as diving as it gets there. We've done Anthony's Key 3 times and loved each trip. What a wonderful resort.
